Gedling Country Park. Meet Brian Cluff at the recreation ground car park, 200 metres on left up Lambley Lane, Gedling (Map Ref. SK 616 432). Limited space - car sharing please. An adventure through the more attractive wooded part of the former pit area, exploring the park development, wild life, relics of the colliery and former passenger rail line from Netherfield to Derby. Mostly flat but some short steep slopes. Walking stick useful. Optional visit to Mapperley Tunnel. Optional lunch afterwards at the Toby Inn, Colwick. Contact Brian on (0115) 9205110. A gentle ascent and descent between Lowdham and Thurgarton on sealed footpaths, before crossing the railway to flooded former gravel pits and on route, passing two former Mills on Dover Beck. |

Kirklington, Southwell and Edingley. Meet at the car park on Station Rd,

Teversal and Huthwaite. Meet at the Teversal Trails Visitors’ Centre (Map Ref. SK 479 614). Leader Derek S. (Tel. 0115 933 4482). Take a picnic. Walking in two Country Parks and along footpaths over fields. Hilly in parts and includes the highest(?) point in Nottinghamshire that has great views.

Our walk takes us to the Warren Hills and the outskirts of Coalville and Whitwick on the Ivanhoe Way. We also visit Cademan Wood and Blackbrook Reservoir.

Harby and Grantham Canal. Meet at Langar Bridge No.43, Langar Lane, Harby. (Map Ref. SK 744 316). Leader Peter D. (Tel. 0115 956 2867). Take a picnic. A figure-of-eight walk from Harby to Long Clawson Bridge No.37 along the canal and back across fields, crossing the canal once again. Through Harby and back to Langar Bridge. A few stiles, but mainly flat. |

Calverton. Meet at St. Giles Church, Calverton. (Map Ref. SK 617 492). Meet at Upper Parliament St. for 09:50 Calverton bus. Please check timetable nearer date. Leader Rosemary F. (Tel. 0115 962 6975). Take a picnic. The walk climbs out of Calverton along a ridge with good views, then later through woods to Oxton. There is a little road walking, but mainly good tracks and paths, with very few stiles.

Nomanshill Wood and Blidworth. Meet at Bay 2, Victoria Bus Station, Nottingham for the 10:05 am Pronto Bus to Chesterfield. Please check timetable nearer date. Alight Larch Farm, return from Kighill Lane (1.6 miles from start) at quarter past the hour. Leader Paul W. (Tel. 0115 982 1022). Take a picnic. A few short sections of road walking, but mostly woodland and field tracks. Good views from the Blidworth area. Starting at Larch Farm and on to Normanshill Wood, Fountain Dale, Blidworth and finishing at Kighill. Please note this is a linear walk. |

Mansfield Woodhouse and Little Matlock. Meet at Nottingham Station for the 09:55 am train to Mansfield Woodhouse (day return). Leader David B. (Tel. 01509 852 629). Take a picnic. From Mansfield Woodhouse station, we skirt the town via Oxclose Wood and walk to the limestone gorge of the River Meden near Little Matlock. We then travel North through Pleasley Park and return via the Archaeological Way to the railway station. |

Trent Bridge to Beeston Locks. Meet at Victoria Embankment. (road-side parking at SK 580 382). Leaders Diana M. (Tel. 01949 850 834) and Kevin W. (5 miles) (Tel. 0115 984 7585). Along the canal towpath through Nottingham then skirting the Lenton Industrial Estate, passing the Boots works and on to Beeston Lock. There is a café at the lock. For the shorter 5 mile walk, we depart the canal at Lenton Lane, head SE over the railway and along a track by the River Leen and rejoin the track at Wilford Bridge North embankment.
